Day 58: Highlights and frustrations

Highlight: I got a train ticket to Madrid today, to go this weekend! Exciting! It was expencive, but Ansa Spain will pay for it (Norwegian student organisation)=) woop woop!

Frustration: I have to read about 20 pages about anthropology by tomorrow. Seems interesting, but in Spanish? I think I have understood about 1/10 of the two pages I've read so far... I'm sure it can only get better! (On the other hand I don't understand much of the lectures either, so if the professor asks me tomorrow if I read it I will probably just look like a question mark anyway!)
(I promise the photos will become more inspiring soon...)

Day 57: My first (and hopefully last) visit to a Spanish hospital

As I don't have a doctor here I had to go to the hospital to get antibiotics for my sinusitis. It was ok, boring as hospitals are and I don't particularly enjoy being surrounded by sick people... But the doctor was friendly and helpful, she even took an x-ray of my head! I am proud to say it all happened in Spanish, and I survived... And best of all: it was free! =)

Day 16: My traveling companions

I had a really nice last day in Norway; shopping in Oslo with Line and then a lovely dinner with my mum and my brother. But I didn't bring my camera today, so instead a took a photo of my traveling companions:

1. The blue backpack - my dear friend and carrier since 2006, after traveling around the world for six months I have never again used a suitcase...
2. Mr. Moose - since my 18th birthday when I got Elgen / Mr. Moose from my best friend Line before I went to the US as an exchange student he has been with me everywhere. I dare say he is one of the world's most traveled moose!
3. The blue Ipod - for music and games (solitaire all the way! I'm addicted...) on short and long trips
4. My camera - to document everything!
5. Anti-bacterial gel - to guard myself from scary things like swine flu... oink, oink!

Day 15: My Oslo bike

In front of the palace on the way home at 11 pm

Here in Oslo they have bikes that you can borrow for 3 hours at a time to get around. All you have to do is pay 80 kr to get a card, then you can pick up and drop off all over the city. It is a cheap, fast, safe and 'green' way to get around, and today I used it four times! I like my Oslo bike(s)

=)

Day 14: Tur i marka med mamma

Day 13: Thailand in Oslo

Today was a very lively day in Oslo, with lots of stuff going on: market day in Bygdøy Alle by my house, music festival all with concerts all around the city, an environmental festival and a Thai market. I walked around with my mum and on my own, and although it was not very warm it was a nice day =)

Day 10: Salt Sild

I went to Sandvika today with Line, Hilde and Trine and after having coffee and then McDonalds we had a sudden craving for salty liquorice!

Day 9: Time to say goodbye

Yesterday I left Aberystwyth and I will not be back until September 2010! It was a strange feeling, I felt sad but at the same time excited about my year abroad. Hannah got up at 5 am to walk me to the train station, thank you! It was a looong day of traveling, but it's good to be back in Norway for the summer :)

Day 8: A day out in Machynlleth

Today I went to Machynlleth (a small town 30 mins by train from Aber) and the Centre for Alternative Technology with Mimi and Hannah. We had a great day wandering around in the sun with our audioguides (and it was fun, despite the serious looks on their faces...) =)
